Julia Anne Smith, age 57, of South Charleston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the James Comprehensive Cancer Center, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family. Born on May 9, 1968, in Springfield, Ohio, Julia was the beloved daughter of Herman Chambers and Nancy (Boop) Farmer.
A proud graduate of Northwestern High School in 1986, Julia's life took a beautiful turn when she met her soulmate, Dr. Eric Smith, in 1987. Their love blossomed, and they were united in marriage in 1988, embarking on a journey that would see them create a loving home and a thriving family together. Julia was the epitome of a devoted wife and mother, always there to support Eric as he pursued his dreams in Chiropractic school, and later celebrating the success of their shared venture, Madison County Chiropractic.
Julia cherished her role as a mother to Ashlee (Christopher) Saunders and Michael (Emilie) Smith, and she delighted in the joy brought by her four grandchildren, Rylee and Hudson Saunders and Madeline and Elijah Smith. She dedicated herself to being present at every milestone, from attending their sporting events to participating in the county fair, where she won numerous ribbons for her remarkable canning skills.
Her passions extended beyond family; Julia was an enthusiastic member of Phi Beta Psi Sorority, serving in various local capacities before rising to the honored position of national editor. Together with her dearest friend, Luana Barker, she planned and executed the celebrated Wine and Dine event, raising significant funds for cancer research— a true testament to her commitment to making a difference.
Julia leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, and a profound impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She is survived by her beloved husband of 37 years, Dr. Eric Smith; her cherished children, Ashlee (Christopher) Saunders and Michael (Emilie) Smith; her adoring grandchildren, Rylee, Hudson, Madeline, and Elijah; her parents, Herman (Kimberly) Chambers and Nancy (David) Farmer; her siblings, Jamie (Steve) Madore and Heidi (Nathan) Bobek; her father and mother in-law, Jimmy and Sally Smith; brother-in-law Brian (Valerie) Smith; sister-in-law Kelly (Tim) Kuhn; numerous delightful nieces and nephews; a devoted friend in Luana Barker; along with extended family, friends, and sorority sisters.
Friends and family will gather in remembrance of Julia at the St. Patrick Parish Center, located at 61 South Union Street, London, Ohio 43140, on the morning of her service. Calling hours will be held Friday, November 21, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with a heartfelt funeral mass to celebrate her life beginning at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Church, officiated by Fr. Slawomir Siok.
In honor of Julia’s spirit and legacy, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Phi Beta Psi Sorority in lieu of flowers.
