Julia Creech Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home on Nov. 17, 2023.
Julia Mae Creech, 95, of Glastonbury CT, passed away peacefully onNovember 16, 2023 at Addison Place in Glastonbury CT surrounded by her loving family. Born in Elliottville, KY on July 4, 1928, the daughter of the late William & Mollie (Fraley) Conn. At age just 15, she bravely boarded a bus and traveled to Orville, OH where she began working to help support her parents and six siblings in rural Appalachian Kentucky.
In 1946, she met and married the love of her life, Glenn E. Creech. They were married for almost 40 years prior to Glenn's sudden passing in 1986. Julia was a charter member of the 1st Baptist Church in Fairborn, OH, and a longtime member of 1st Baptist Church of Ferguson, MO. Julia was a devout Christian who loved her Savior, His scriptures, and each of the faith communities of which she was not just a member, but a pillar.
In her earlier years, Julia enjoyed bowling, traveling, and later in life was an active member of the Hebron Senior Center, but her peace and solace was always found in gardening, flowers and birdwatching, with cardinals being her favorite. All of this paled in comparison, however, as Julia's greatest joy was spending time with her beloved family. She especially loved Christmas holidays: from selecting and wrapping gifts to Johnny Mathis playing on the record player to annual tree decorating parties and family photographs with Santa.
She is survived by her sons, who held her hand to the very end, Philip D. Creech of Amston CT and Paul G. Creech and his wife Renee of West Hartford CT, her daughter, Brenda Burns of Manchester CT, her three grandchildren, Chloe Mission and her husband Jonathan of Windsor CT, Jillian Mondaca of Clinton CT and Jordan Stachowiak of East Hartford CT. Julia also had four great-granddaughters, finer to her than any treasure, Sophie Mondaca, Rylee Creech-Mission, Shiloh Mission, and Quinn Mission. She also had many beloved nieces and nephews that are as dear to her as if they were her own. Julia, Lottie, Donna, Willie, Johnny, Tom, Karen, Barbara, Stephen and Danny. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Glenn E. Creech, her six younger siblings, Willie Conn, Opal March, Lottie Tolliver, Harlan Conn, Hattie Marie Conn, and Raymond (Junior) Conn.
A funeral service for Julia Mae Creech will take place on Wednesday 11/22, 2023 at 12:00 noon at Life Church New England, 23 Griffin Road, Granby, CT 06035. Calling hours will precede the service from 10:30-12. Burial will be private at a family cemetery in Elliotville, KY.
