Julia Annette Dorhout

Dorhout, Julia Annette, age 66, of Flushing, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at McLaren-Flint. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2025, at St. Robert Catholic Church officiated by Fr. Ginu Abraham. Burial will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Friday at the church until the time of the Mass at 11 a.m. In honor of her life, memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Prayer Center or the American Cancer Society.
Julia was born in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Louis and Wanda (Rainwater) Maroun. She was a graduate of Carman High School, class of 1976. She married her high school sweetheart Raymond Dorhout on June 16, 1979, at Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Flint. Julia received her cosmetology license and was a hairdresser for many years. She also devoted her life to raising her two children. Judy and Ray's house was where everyone could hang out and feel right at home. She put on the best celebrations and parties. With her creativity, she made everything she touched beautiful. Julia also volunteered doing prop and costume design for the Flushing theater department and spent countless hours in all weather supporting her childrens' activities. She loved putting her time and energy into making fundraisers for the St. Francis Prayer Center beautiful and memorable.
Julia is survived by her husband of 45 years, Ray; son, Ryan and wife Ann Dorhout; daughter, Alysia and husband Niko Mentula; grandchildren, Aiden Dorhout, Emilia and Daniel Mentula; siblings, Tony and wife Shelly Maroun, Theresa and husband Kip Karwoski, Chris and wife Jacquie Maroun; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Bobby and Michael.
