Tucker, Carole Jean, of Flushing, age 84, died Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Oliver Woods Retirement Village in Owosso. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Flushing Presbyterian Church, 5010 N McKinley Rd, with Pastor Paul Pfeuffer officiating. Family and friends will gather from 10:00 a.m. on Friday at church until the time of service.
Carole was born in Flint, Michigan on September 19, 1941, the daughter of Gustav and Helen (Hein) Ruppel. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and later went back to Vanderbilt University to complete her master's degree in nursing. Carole taught nursing at Mott Community College for decades, eventually becoming the Head of Nursing. She remained an active nurse in local hospitals throughout her teaching career. After retiring, she continued serving others through hospice care. Carole was a devoted member of Flushing Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon, elder, and clerk of session for decades. She was also active in both the bell and vocal choirs. She had a true love for travel and exploration, which took her all over the world, including missionary work in Costa Rica, always finding ways to serve and connect with others. Carole was also a Master Gardener, who found peace and joy in cultivating beauty from the earth.
She is survived by her sons, Scott (Sandy) Tucker of Flushing and Eric (Beth) Tucker of Bellevue; grandchildren, Aidan, Kaylee and Joshua Tucker; sisters-in-law, Carol Ruppel and Darla (Bill) Arn; and several nieces and nephews.
Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Gustav and Helen Ruppel and brother, James Ruppel.
If desired, donations in Carole's memory may be made to Family Promise of Mid-Michigan, Flushing Christian Outreach Center or Flushing Presbyterian Church.
