Julia Maria Erickson, 66, of Gwinn, passed away unexpectedly and entered eternity into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus, Saturday morning, February 11, 2012, at her home. She was born June 26, 1945, in Ishpeming, a daughter of the late John C. and Carmen (Valente) Zanetti and was a lifelong Gwinn resident graduating from Gwinn High School in 1963. On August 2, 1969 she married John Erickson at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Gwinn. Julia was employed for 25 years as a secretary at the Gwinn Schools and retired in 2002. She was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, a member of the Gwinn Historical Museum, Red Hats and Gwinn Beautification Committee. Julia enjoyed traveling with friends, entertaining, gardening, cooking and especially time spent with family. She is survived by her husband, John Erickson of Gwinn; sons, Eric (Kymberly) Erickson of Rockford, MI, Chad (Alma Klotz) Erickson of Caledonia, MI and Luke (Allison) Erickson of Marquette; grandchildren, Evan, Avery, Asher, Emily and a grandson soon to arrive; brothers, John (Sandra) Zanetti of Gwinn and Dennis (Barb Taetsch) Zanetti of St. Claire Shores, MI; uncle, John Valente of Swanzy; and numerous nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Canale-Gwinn Funeral Home with a prayer service to be held at 6 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Rev. John Boyle officiating. Interment will be held in the spring in Gwinn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Gwinn Senior Center.
