A memorial service for Julia Novella (Hays) Flowers will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Steve. Wilburn will officiate.
Mrs. Flowers went to be with the Lord August 20, 2024. She passed away at Jasmine Estates in Okla. City, OK with family present at her bedside.
Novella was born January 17, 1940 in Wayne, OK to Oliver Hobart and Nancy Anna (Gann) Hays. She attended school at Sunshine, Fitzhugh, Vanoss and later graduated from Hickory High School in Hickory, OK.
Novella was trained to be an EKG Technician at Hillcrest Osteopathic Hospital in Oklahoma City, where she worked for 25 years. After retirement from the hospital, she became Activities Director at Daily Living Center in Oklahoma City for 2 years.
Her church affiliation was Baptist and she was baptized in running water in her early teens. Novella enjoyed fishing, RVing, crocheting, reading and spending time with family and friends. She traveled to all 50 states and Canada.
Novella married Frank Flowers in 1960 and he preceded her in death in 2013.
Survivors include a son, Kevin Flowers and spouse JoJo, Maramec, OK; daughter, Taunya Flowers Massengale and husband Mike, Oklahoma City, OK; sister, Juanita (Hays) Sutton-Green, Ada, OK; brother, Weldon Hays, Oklahoma City, OK; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 12 nephews; and 12 nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Hampton, Hamilton and Oliver Kenneth Hays; one niece, Darla Sutton-Haynes; and one brother-in-law, Edd Sutton.
