Funeral service for Julia Hawkins, age 63, of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Morning Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs with Chris Spivey, Pastor Rufus Nash, Pastor Rudy Ellis, and Dr. Pastor H.B. Nash officiating. Interment will follow at Melhaven Cemetery with the Sulphur Springs High School Class of 1979 serving as the honorary pallbearers. Ms. Hawkins passed away at her home on Monday, August 19, 2024.
Julia Ann Hawkins was born on December 14, 1960 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Henry Smith, Jr. and Erie Mae (Morris) Smith. She married Robert Earl Hawkins in Sulphur Springs in December, 1983. Julia loved travelling with family and friends and going to the casino. She enjoyed meeting people and developed many sweet friendships along the way. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Julia was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs.
Julia is survived by her husband, Robert Earl Hawkins of Sulphur Springs; daughter, Tiffany Hawkins of Sulphur Springs; son, Robert Earl Hawkins, Jr. of Palestine; grandchildren, Tiesan Goodson, Briesan Hawkins, Romeo Hawkins-Davis, Jaiydan Hawkins-Davis, Kingston Hawkins; Rylan Hawkins, Robert Earl Hawkins III; great-grandchildren, Kaiyden Norman and Mei’la Thomas; sisters, Betty Porter (Issac) of Sulphur Springs, Mary Montague (Kenneth) of Toledo, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Erie Smith; sister, Dorothy Washington (Gerald); brother, Henry D. Smith; nephew, Gerald D. Washington; great-nieces, Angelica Washington and Travesia Porter.
