Julia Birlee Holder, 86, passed away at home on September 22, 2024. She was born on March 31, 1938, in Hobart, OK. Julia grew up on the family farm near Roosevelt, OK and graduated from Con 8 High School in 1956. She attended Southwestern State College in Weatherford where she majored in Home Economics. After marrying Voyle Holder, she moved to Moore in 1961 where she raised her children. She was a member of the Moore Jaycee Jaynes for many years, where she made numerous lifelong friends. In the 1970s, she started working as an optometric assistant for Vision Source and later Eye Care Oklahoma before retiring in 2010. Julia was strong and resilient, surviving both cancer and the May 3 tornado in 1999. She was a fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder and OU, especially Billy Tubbs' basketball teams. She loved her furry friends, Willie and Jack. Julia was a beautiful lady who will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Brice and Birdell Schrader. She is survived by her brothers, Ted Schrader of Glen Burnie, MD, and Phil Schrader and wife Terry of Tuttle, OK; son Mark Holder of Tuttle, OK, and daughter Tracei Holder and husband Keith Bailey of Moore, OK; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, 9/26, from 4-8 p.m. at Lynlee Mae Chapel, 507 E. Main St., Moore, OK. Funeral service is Friday, 9/27, at 10 a.m. at Lynlee Mae Chapel. Graveside service will follow at Rose Cemetery, Hobart, OK.
