Julia (Leggett) Denhe

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Julia (Leggett) Dehne, who left us on November 13, 2025, at the age of 94 at Ben Hur Health and Rehabilitation. Born on March 15, 1931, in London, England, Julia's early years were marked by unimaginable challenges during the German bombings of World War II. Tragically, she lost her parents in the chaos, and she and her siblings were placed in an orphanage. Despite these hardships, Julia's spirit shone brightly throughout her life. Even after enduring the deafness that resulted from the bombing, she embraced the world with warmth and kindness.

Julia's journey brought her to the United States, thanks to Lex Clore, a compassionate soul she met during her work at a hotel in London. With his invitation to visit, Julia discovered a new home in Crawfordsville. After several visits, she made the brave decision to stay, finding joy and purpose in her new life. Though Lex passed away in 1978, Julia carried forward his spirit of love and kindness.

For 40 years, Julia worked tirelessly at the Riviera Motel in Crawfordsville, where she became a beloved figure, known for her unwavering dedication and cheerful disposition. She also took on various babysitting jobs and volunteered at the Ben Hur Nursing Home in the activities department. Her friends and neighbors held her dear, and those who knew her will always cherish the countless memories shared with this remarkable woman.
