Julia is survived by her children Ann (Danny) Clark of Hillsdale, MI, Joy (Dr. Joseph) Moravec of Urbandale, IA, Kevin (Diane) Leonard of Reading, MI, Lisa (Daniel) Gonshorowski of Osseo, MI, and a daughter-in-law, Susan Leonard of Parma, MI; 11 grandchildren, Tricia, Casey, Skye, Quinn, Clay, Ivy, Dennis, Jorie, Kaylee, Jonathan, and Drew; 16 great-grandchildren;
one sister, Becky (Dr. Nick) Walz of Bryan, OH, and many nieces & nephews.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 70 years, Ferris C. Leonard, 2 sons, Joel and Doral, 2 grandsons, Kent and Trevor, 2 brothers, Donald and William, and 3 sisters, Jeanette, Betty, and Sue.
Julia was an active member of the Osseo Baptist Church for over 50 years and was a dedicated teacher at North Central Schools in Pioneer, OH. Over her 26 years of teaching, she was recognized for her outstanding contributions in Math and Science until her retirement. Julia was also an avid Ohio State fan and enjoyed watching Detroit sports teams, especially Tigers baseball. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and doing crossword puzzles.
To honor Julia's life, a visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Osseo beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 AM. There will be a luncheon for family and friends immediately following the service in the basement of the First Baptist Church of Osseo, located at 5354 Beecher Rd. Osseo, MI 49266.
A private Interment will take place at a later date at Cambria II Cemetery.
For those who wish, a memorial contribution can be given in honor of Julia to the Greater Hillsdale Humane Society, the National Diabetes Association, or to Hospice of Hillsdale County.
