Julia "Beckie" Rebecca Torbett, 72, of Athens, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, after a prolonged illness. She was of the Baptist faith and found comfort and hope in her spiritual walk with Christ.
Born on September 12, 1952, Beckie was the beloved daughter of the late Julia Belle Torbett and Avery Alfred Torbett. She was also preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Bud Satherlie, whose memory she carried with her every day.
She is survived by three loving children: Son, Ruben Satherlie of Athens, TN; Daughter and son-in-law, Dhea and Kevin Duggan of Riceville, TN; and Son and daughter-in-law, Quinn and Wendy Satherlie of Athens, TN
She was a grandmother to ten grandchildren who brought her great pride and joy: Toby Duggan, Tori Bunch and husband Mason Bunch, Tallan Duggan and Sarah Corum, Danielle Satherlie, Carson Satherlie, Tyler Reynolds, Katie-Grace Reynolds, Abigail Satherlie, and Cameron Satherlie. Beckie is also survived by her two brothers and their families: Avery and Becky Torbett of Cleveland, TN and Robert "R.L." and Debbie Torbett of Knoxville, TN.
She will be remembered through the many lives she touched.
In keeping with her wishes, a private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family deeply appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers during this time.
