Julia Carol Rhea, 80, of Byhalia, MS, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025. No services are scheduled at this time.
Julia was born on October 28, 1944, in Hernando, MS. Julia worked as a waitress for many years before retiring. A lifelong lover of books, she especially enjoyed romance and mystery novels. Julia treasured every moment with her family and found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren. She was also an avid fan of "Jeopardy!" and "Wheel of Fortune," rarely missing an episode.
Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Allen, Jr.; parents, Claudie Yon and Clarence Davis Yon; two sisters; three brothers; and one grandson, Brantley Allen Brent.
Julia is survived by her daughter, Connie Whaley (Michael) of Byhalia, MS; granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Brent; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean McCullar (Roger) of Olive Branch, MS, and Kathey McWhirter (Dan) of Hernando, MS; and brothers, William Michael Yon of Senatobia, MS, Roger Yon (Cindy) of Fort Valley, GA, Thomas Yon of Bonaire, GA, and Clifford Yon (Debra) of Holly Springs, MS.
In lieu of traditional flowers, donations may be made in her name to the B.J. Chain Public Library in Olive Branch. Please mail donations to 6619 Hwy 305 North, Olive Branch, MS 38654. Please note on the check the donation is in memory of Julia Carol Rhea.
