Julia Marie Bull Schomaker, 94, of
Rayne, Louisiana, died peacefully in the presence of family on Saturday, December 6th, 2025, at Calcutta House Hospice in Lafayette, LA.
Julia was born in Rayne Louisiana on September 19, 1931. She graduated from Rayne High School and later from Charity School of Nursing in New Orleans Class of 1952. During her time in New Orleans, she discovered her love of nursing and her love for her future husband, Harold "Hap" Schomaker, Sr. After marrying on February 10, 1952, Julia and Hap resided in
Metairie, LA where they raised their three children, Harold Jr, Stephen and Peggy. They were parishioners of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Metairie where Julia served in the Altar Society and continued her nursing career. At home, Julia was known for her skills in the garden and in the kitchen.
