Julia Scully Obituary

New York , New York - It's been two months since we had to say goodby to our beloved aunt, Julia S. Scully. The Castro and Ciau families are ever grateful for the gifts of love and kindness from friends, companions and caregivers which greatly improved her quality of life especially during the last year. Special thanks to caregiver Margalie Louis Charles. We treasured Julia's favorite pastimes: family gatherings, traveling, bird watching and nature walks. Memories of our family times will be a source of joy and comfort.
After growing up in remote Alaska and graduating from Stanford University, Julia ventured to New York, working 20 years as the editor of Modern Photography magazine. After retirement, her memoir and numerous other books and articles were published to great acclaim.
Survived by Carla Castro-Ciau, Mark and Gayle Castro, Anastacia Ciau, Carloz and Lindsay Ciau and their children Evelynn and Ben Ciau, Leah and Christian Rivero, Bekka and Joe Lucas. Preceded in death by her sister, Mamie Lily Castro. Julia requested her ashes be spread in Central Park and the rose garden in Sacramento, CA. May her memory be a blessing.
