Julian "Sonny" Goerdt Obituary
Julian L. “Sonny” Goerdt, age 88 of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
A visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre with military honors at 3 p.m. by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. by Deacon Tom McFadden.
Julian Louis Goerdt was born October 14, 1935 in Sedan, Minnesota to Anthony Sr. And Loretta (Weimerskirch) Goerdt. Sonny grew up in Sauk Centre. He was a retired Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force. On July 13, 1973, he married Audrie Roth. They were blessed with three wonderful children. Sonny worked as an appliance repair man and a floor installer.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 67 and Paul F. Donart VFW Post 2853. Sonny loved crystal digging, hunting, fishing, driving around looking for wild life, playing Sudoku, and most of all, spending time with his family. Family time brought so much joy to Sonny. He will be deeply missed by many!
Survivors include his wife, Audrie Goerdt of Sauk Centre; daughter, Elaine (Tim) Fischer of Sartell; son, Eric (Amanda) Goerdt of Sauk Centre; eight grandchildren, Bryan (Nicole) Fischer, John Fischer (fiancee, Callie Statema), Kaitlyn (Tim) Feiler, Anna (Mitchell) Graves, and Ethan, Alexandra, Amelia, and Alicia Goerdt; 12 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Rose Uphus of Sauk Centre and Louise Echola of St. Cloud.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randy Goerdt; sisters, Barbie, Ruth Ann, Edwina, Anita, Marilyn, Evelyn, and Ione; brothers, John, Roger, Joe, Anthony Jr.; and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
