Julian Torrez, age 73, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025. He was born on October 26, 1952, in Levelland, Texas, to Francisco Torrez and Sophia B. Torrez.
Julian married the love of his life, Lucia Flores Torrez, on April 24, 1969, in Rupert, Idaho. Together, they built a life rooted in hard work, family, and enduring love.
A lifelong truck driver, Julian also had a passion for landscaping and entrepreneurship. He proudly owned and operated Torrez Roofing and Remodeling, serving his community with dedication and skill. Known for his strong work ethic and generous spirit, Julian was always ready to lend a hand or share a story.
He found joy in the simple pleasures of life-shopping at Home Depot, riding his tractor on weekends, and watching his favorite show, Gunsmoke. Holidays were especially dear to him, as they brought the family together around laughter, love, and his favorite BBQ-especially when prepared by his son, Julian Jr.
Julian is survived by his devoted wife, Lucia Torrez of Houston, Texas; daughters Rebecca Ramirez of Houston and Raquel Torrez (husband Mark Luna) of Houston; sons Julian Torrez Jr. and Andrew Torrez, both of Houston; sisters Carmen Torrez of Torrance, California, Margie Peralez of Sundown, Texas, and Lisa Torrez of Lubbock, Texas; and brother Ray Torrez of Houston.
He was a proud grandfather to eleven grandchildren: Christopher Torrez, Alexis Ramirez, Fernando Torrez, Devin Luna, Ruben Ramirez Jr., Dominique Luna, Andrew Torrez Jr., Aiden Torrez, Khloe Luna, Adrian Torrez, and Keilana Torrez. His legacy continues through his four great-grandchildren: Alex Ramos, Camila Luna, Aziel Ramos, and Madelyn Luna.
He is preceded in death by his brothers Manuel Torrez and Francisco Torrez Jr., and his son Armando Torrez.
Julian will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his laughter, his stories, and the warmth he brought to every gathering. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
