I knew Julie as a fellow band member at Mosinee High. My sympathies to her family, especially her sister Kathy.

I knew her first as Miss Hahn. She was my very first teacher and I was in her first class at Pershing. I remember an assignment we had where we had to write a cookbook for our parents, it was probably around Thanksgiving. I chose cherry pie. She brought me over to ask me how to make cherry pie and she dictated the recipe. I said you would need "100 cherries" because that was just such a big number for me. I remember feeling so unbelievably POWERFUL in that moment. Here was this grown up, asking ME how to make a pie. I felt on top of the world. My own two children also had her for kindergarten and it was such a significant moment for me to know we all had the best of beginnings.

Julie was a loving member of our family. At family gatherings, our discussions would always revolve around our dedication to children“s education and our mutual passion about the children in underserved communities and special education.

Julie held my hand when my sister, Sharon , her mother-in-law, passed away and that loving act of kindness lives in my heart.
