Julie Ann Long

Julie Ann Long, 45, died peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2025 in Georgetown, Kentucky following a difficult battle with cancer. She was born to Samuel Edward Long and the late Kathleen Patricia Thornton on October 7, 1979 in Clinton, Maryland. Julie grew up Catholic, attending Holy Rosary Church during childhood. She was a smart, active, and social young lady. She was a competitive swimmer, dancer, soccer player, baseball player, and kept stats for the wrestling team. She also rode horses at Merrymount Equestrian Center, was a math tutor, and participated in theatre performances. Later, she studied mediation and conflict resolution, like her Mom, at Marymount University and became a behavioral health specialist. Julie was a teacher at Arundel High School and worked diligently to reduce violence in schools across the Anne Arundel County School District, Maryland.
Julie will be lovingly remembered by her Dad, Samuel Edward Long; her children, Kathleen Patricia Devilbiss, Annabelle Lee Elaine Purper, and Laura Cecilia Long; her brother, Samuel Edward (Brooke) Long, Jr.; her sister, Katie Long; her cousins, Mary Pesetsky, Marcie Ferrante, Barbara Downs, Candy Keisu; her Uncle Joe; her Aunt Martina; her nieces and nephews, Samuel, Emma, Sean, Maddie; her close friends, Laura Hartman, Diana Ulis (Kenny) Gates; and her shining star, greatest love, and soul mate, Jack Blankenship. Julie wanted to especially recognize her cousin Kenneth Long, and his wife Christy, who have graciously agreed to become guardians of her minor children. Julie also wanted to recognize her great love and appreciation for her Herber, Vallario, Jewel, and Fowler extended family members. She was preceded in death by her Mom, Kathleen Patricia Thornton; and her Aunt Leasy, who, with her Uncle Joe, were like additional parents to Julie.
A Celebration of Life is planned 4:00 pm on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home in Georgetown, Kentucky. A reception at the funeral home will follow the service.
