Julie Nichol of Montpelier passed away peacefully in the early hours of the 4th of November 2025. She was born on July 4, 1952 in Baltimore, Maryland to Herbert Nichol and Lucille (Bahssin) Nichol. Julie spent most of her childhood in the Philadelphia suburbs of southern New Jersey before attending Antioch College in Ohio. After brief stints in Philadelphia and California after college, she moved to Vermont where she lived for many years.
Julie was smart, creative, and conscientious, never forgetting a family member's birthday or special occasion. And she made the best holiday cookies! Although she faced many struggles in life, she was tenacious and determined and wasn't afraid to stand up for what she believed. She was a devoted caretaker of a succession of cats and dogs and always had a project going on in her home or yard.
Julie was predeceased by her parents as well as her partner Bruce Munro. She is survived by her beloved dog Benji, her sister Polly Nichol and brother-in-law Cy Jordan, good friend Nancy Hammond, niece Becca Jordan and nephew Jon Jordan and their families, as well as cousins Jenny Bahssin, Dave Bahssin, Barbara Hemmendinger, Gene Elk and their families.
Her family is tremendously grateful to the people who visited Julie during her final days as well as those who provided assistance, support and comfort throughout her life.
Donations in Julie's memory can be made to the Janet Anthony fund at Onion River Animal Hospital, 2386 Airport Rd, Barre, Vt. 05641 or to the Central Vermont Humane Society, 1589 VT-14, E. Montpelier, Vt. 05651.
