Julie Ann (May) Seltzer was born on February 4, 1950 to Noel Culhane May and Stanton Bonham May, MD, through the gift of life and adoption from Audrey Mae Summers and CMSgt Fred Parks, USAF, Ret.
Julie was was a resident of the Glendale, California area for much of her life, leaving just briefly to earn degrees from La Sierra University and Andrews University, and to travel. Her degrees were in history and library science, interests that lasted and kept her sharp for her entire life. She enjoyed travel, especially to Europe and Hawai'i. She also loved music and was a gifted pianist. Most memorable are her duets with her mother, a talented organist.
During her early years, she was surrounded by a large, loving family and developed beautiful relationships with many friends along the way. She was fed in faith by her beloved Seventh-day Adventist Church, but supported all on any spiritual path. She possessed the qualities and characteristics of a true Christian.
Julie was married to Keith A. Seltzer in 1969. From that eleven-year marriage came her first greatest joy: the birth of her daughter in 1979. That joy was multiplied with the births of each of her grandchildren. She was always their brightest light, #1 fan and cheerleader, and best friend.
In more recent years, Julie was able to connect with her biological family whom she fell in love with and stayed close to, despite many miles between them. They included siblings Jim, Brenda, Juanita, Karen, David Lee, and their families (on her mother's side), and Penny (from her father's side).
She eventually left California to move to Corvallis, Oregon with her daughter and family. She enjoyed many more years with them as their beacon of faith, hope, love, kindness, and generosity. Her family never had to question how much they were adored by her. Her expressions of love were constant and endless.
Julie lived a life of love, service, and sacrifice. She was adored and admired by those whose paths crossed hers. She truly made the world a better place and will be remembered for that, along with her smile and sense of humor. She left this world quietly and peacefully, as she deserved, and with a legacy of love that will live on. Her loved ones look forward to the beautiful reunion that will take place one day in the place often called Heaven. She spoke lovingly of this place of perfect peace, where there would be no more suffering, tears, or sickness.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Summer (Andrew), Kylie (Justice, Kathy), Nathan (Lea), Luke, and Ava Helms, Jocelin Aguirre Santiago, her great-grandchildren: Elaina and Aiden, and by her children: Karen and Avern Carpenter, Michael and Leesa Helms, Tim and Katie Morgan, and many others she has helped raise along the way. Other beloved family and friends are too numerous to name here.
She was preceded in death by her four parents, great-granddaughter Baby Helms Aguirre, and brother Tom May.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CARDV or other organizations that support survivors of childhood sexual abuse, or to the PKD Foundation.

RIP, my friend. Our academy days just don´t seem that long ago, and I remember your caring nature, your smile and most of all the sound of your laughter with crystal clarity. May your family find comfort in your love you left with them.
