Julius James Klehm Jr.

Julius James Klehm Jr, cherished husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, in Houston, Texas at the age of 85. Julius was born February 9, 1940 in Houston, Texas, to Lucile Annie (Willis) and Julius James Klehm Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife Mavis on April 30 this year after nearly 64 years of marriage.
Julius bravely battled Congestive Heart Failure for many years before his passing. He is survived by his son Julius James Klehm III and wife Terri, daughter Pamela Klehm-Huddleston and grandchildren: Derek Huddleston, Brandon Klehm, Shelby Klehm and Annadecia Huddleston. Additionally, he has numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members who will miss him deeply.
Julius graduated Salutatorian from Hempstead High School and received a Chemical Engineering degree from Texas A&M. He went on to serve as Captain in the Army Chemical Division. After the Army, Julius worked for Texaco, Inc. for 36 years before retiring in 1995.
Julius was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Julius was active in church; he taught or sponsored every age group and he served as deacon at each church with which he was affiliated. Julius had numerous hobbies and interests. He enjoyed following college sports and recruiting. But beyond his family, Julius had two primary passions in life. He loved photographing nature and raising/judging orchids. He was a member of the American Orchid Society, Houston Orchid Society and Houston Judging Center – serving in many positions in all organizations throughout his lifetime. Julius traveled often to judge in orchid shows, and he will be dearly missed by every Orchid organization from San Antonio to New Orleans. Julius was also a member of Houston Photography Club; he was choosing photos for display/judging just days leading up to his passing.
Julius was honored by many organizations throughout his lifetime; but two of his most cherished honors were being named KISD volunteer of the year and being chosen to carry the Olympic torch through Houston.
Julius will be interred at Houston National Cemetery, on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 10:30am. There will be an informal service with military salutes prior to interment. Family and friends are all welcome to attend. Attendees should line up in Lane One (1) starting at 10:15. Donations suggestion: Texas Wolfdog Project.
