The Life of a Good Man
Julius Caesar Linton, affectionately known as "JC", was born on September 14, 1934, in Reddick, Florida, to Julius and Daisy Roberts-Linton. Julius was one of fourteen children, eight brothers and five sisters.
Throughout his life, he was a devoted provider who worked tirelessly to support his family, setting an enduring example of integrity, hard work, and love.
In 1954, he married the love of his life, Ruth Ella Follins, and together they built a beautiful life. They started a family and raised five sons: Julius, Dennis, Daryl, Donald and Ronald; instilling in them the values of perseverance, responsibility, and kindness. Family was always at the center of Julius's world, and he took great pride in being a devoted husband, father, and role model. Julius relocated his family to Henrietta, making the Linton's one the first few black families to move to the suburbs during the 1960's riots in Rochester.
Outside of his work, Julius found joy tending to his garden and caring for his lawn with unmatched precision. His green thumb and meticulous attention to detail made his yard a source of pride, not only for him, but for neighbors who admired his dedication to keeping it beautiful. He often shared the fruits of his garden with friends, family, and neighbors, a simple but heartfelt gesture that reflected his generous spirit.
Julius's greatest joy, however, came from the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They loved nothing more than sitting with him in the infamous breezeway talking for hours about politics, world events, and life. Those conversations, filled with wisdom, humor, and curiosity, created memories that will be cherished for generations to come.
Throughout Julius's life, he has always been a hard worker bringing with him a spirit of motivation and reliability; however, his most valued job was working for Rochester Products, a Division of General Motors. He devoted 37 years to the company as a Quality Control Specialist. In addition to working at "Products", he was one of the co-owners of Coley's Barbershop on Jefferson Avenue in
Rochester, New York.
After retiring from "Products" in 1994, Julius continued to stay active by working part-time at Abid's Deli and Liquor Store, where he enjoyed greeting familiar faces and staying connected to his community. Retirement also brought him another cherished tradition, meeting his old co-workers for breakfast on the first Saturday of every month, a ritual he joyfully kept for more than 25 years.
A true pillar of his community, Julius was the kind of man who could always be counted on, whether it was lending a hand, sharing advice, or simply offering a kind word.
On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, Julius "JC" Linton peacefully departed this life. His quiet strength, reliability, and warm presence will be immensely missed by all who knew him.

Linton; parents: Julius and Daisy Roberts-Linton; brothers: Ernest English, Earl English, Theodore English, Vernon English, Melvin Linton, Barry Linton; sisters: Ernestine Stevenson, Jaunita Washington, Gloria Linton-Butler, Senia Pullings, Sallie Franklin.
