June Caughron Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel of Capitol Hill on Oct. 3, 2025.
June Wiley-Caughron was born in Oklahoma City, OK on April 6th, 1935, to Glenn Wiley and Ruth Foster Wiley. She passed away peacefully on August 23rd at 90 years old with loved ones at her bedside.
June was an educator and writer with a passion for English literature. She attended Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State University) in the mid-1950s where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She married and raised a family in subsequent years, then earned a master's degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1979. As a teacher she led her students to have a deep appreciation for the art of writing. Former students often thanked her for instilling a respect for language and the process of storytelling. She also had particular interest in the works of Shakespeare and a love for classic films.
Born and raised in central Oklahoma, June was a graduate of Newcastle High School. She spent a good deal of time in northern New Mexico with her family when she was young. She was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation and her mother, Ruth Foster, was an original enrollee on the Dawes rolls. June also had a deep love of music and singing and was an accomplished pianist.
June is survived by her two sons: Jack Caughron (Lisa) and Jeffrey Caughron (Nancy) and by her daughter Erin, and by her grandchildren Nicole Quigley (Patrick), Cauren Macklin (Patrick), Jonathan Caughron (Natalie) and Ryan Caughron, and by four great-grandchildren: Ian Quigley, Nikolas Quigley, Philomina Quigley and Vincent Caughron.
