June Elaine DeFilippis (nee Fuchsman), 77, of Galloway, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at her home on January 29, 2024. She was born on September 18, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York. June was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. June is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Joseph Neil DeFilippis, her children Jilene Carie Orman, Jenise Nicole Kurtz and her favorite son-in-law, Brandon Kurtz, and Joseph Anthony DeFilippis. She was also a cherished grandmother to Scott Orman, Gavin Orman and fiancé Dani Haas, Jara Orman, Blake Kurtz, and Jayden Kurtz. Additionally, she is survived by her niece Carole Marie Hurd, and two nephews, John and James DeFilippis. June was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Grace (Morrissey) Fuchsman, her brother Thomas Fuchsman and his wife, Lucille, her sister Caroline Dealvandros, her mother-in-law Irene DeFilippis, brother-in-law John DeFilippis and her nieces Kelly and Stacy Fuchsman, as well as her nephew Christopher Dealvandros. June attended Bushwick High School in Brooklyn, New York and upon graduating became a legal secretary for Mendes and Mount Law Firm in New York City. She left after marrying her husband Joe to live in Bayville, New Jersey and stayed home to raise her three beautiful children. Once they were all in school, June enrolled in Ocean County College to earn an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing. There she was also initiated into the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Fraternity of the Community and Junior College. She then began her nursing career at Paul Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood, New Jersey and then Community Medical Center in Toms River, New Jersey, which are both part of the St. Barnabas Health Care System. Her work experience included General Care, ICU and eventually Home Health and Hospice where she became a Quality Control Supervisor. While doing this she also earned a Master of Science in Nursing at the Richard Stockon College in New Jersey where she met the requirements for National Certification as an Adult Nurse Practioner. After 25 years of service, she retired to the Four Seasons Adult Communtiy in Smithville, New Jersey. In retirement she enjoyed babysitting for her small grandchildren, traveling, playing pickleball, and bocce ball. In all of these years June lived up to the cliche that, " you can take the girl out of Brooklyn, but you can't take the Brooklyn out of the girl." She was always proud to say she was from Brooklyn. June enjoyed spending time with her family and creating lasting memories with her loved ones. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Lowenstein-Saraceno Funeral Home in Galloway, New Jersey. Please join us in celebrating June's life and honoring her memory. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
