June Galloway Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 13, 2026.
June Galloway (Guelda June Costin Galloway), 91, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of February 11, 2026 in Knoxville. She was born on October 15, 1934, in Bruce, Mississippi, to Drew Costin and Lydia Mooneyham Costin, and was the youngest of four children.

June was a Licensed Practical Nurse in the newborn nursery at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, until her retirement. Before moving to Knoxville in 2000, she lived in Memphis for nearly 50 years and was a long-time member of Oakhaven Baptist Church.

After moving to Knoxville, June became a faithful member of First Baptist Concord although her health kept her from attending much in recent years. She was cherished for her deep knowledge of the Bible and unwavering commitment to encouraging others in their faith. She was profoundly passionate about her love for Jesus Christ, embracing every opportunity to share that light with those around her. This vibrant Christian legacy now lives on through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

June is reunited in heaven with her loving husband of 43 years, Leslie Elijah Galloway; her parents; her sisters, Trudie Costin Murphree and Mabel Costin Easley; her brother Marvin Costin; and her grandson, Daniel Steven Galloway.

She is survived by her two sons Phillip Galloway (Terri) of Madison, Mississippi, and Alan Galloway (Jayne) of Knoxville, Tennessee. Her memory will be treasured by her grandchildren: Lynda Ellison, Kristen Galloway, Anne Galloway and beloved granddaughter-in-law, Beth Galloway, all of Knoxville; and Allison Smith (Rob), and Jill Galloway of Madison; as well as her eight great-grandchildren: Laurie Kate (15), Breck (13), and Harper Ellison (9); Benjamin (7) and Gracie Galloway (5); and Emma James (10), Lydia (9), and Chance Smith (5).

A graveside service will be held on February 21st at 2:00 pm at Forest Hill South Cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests to consider donations in June's memory to the Missions Department of First Baptist Concord, Knoxville, Tennessee, so that the gospel of Jesus Christ may continue to be taken to all the nations.
