Wellford – Athalee June Ockey Grant, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, 97, of Wellford, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2025. She was the wife of the late Rulon Charles Gregory and the daughter of James R. Ockey and Eden Hansen Ockey of Nephi, Utah. Mrs. Grant was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She worked as a retail clerk in the food industry for many years in Las Vegas, Nevada. June enjoyed working with ceramics, quilting and crocheting. She was very involved in community service, volunteering for Meals on Wheels, Greenville Senior Action Center and with an adult reading program. She loved helping others and spending time with family, friends and her beloved dogs. Mrs. Grant is survived by her daughters, Tonya Lynn Gegory and Vickie Lee Brooks (Todd); grandchildren, Shayna Rasmussen Ockey (Ryan) and Taylor Rasmussen (Shawn Cooley); great grandchildren, Coston James Ockey and Caden Gregory Ockey. In addition to her husband and parents, June is predeceased by her brothers, Therl Ockey, Keith Ockey and Larry Ockey; son-in-law Elwood Grimes; and her second husband William Leo Grant, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Spartanburg Humane Society at spartanburghumane.org
