South Yarmouth - It is with great sadness the family reports the passing of our mother June A. Johnson, 92, on Saturday April 6 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. She was born in Worcester and raised in Millbury, daughter of Edwin and Rose (Racicot) Carlstrom deceased.
She is predeceased by her husband Bill of 63 years, infant daughter Linda and infant son Richard, sisters and their spouses Constance (Joseph) Dumas, Shirley (Taylor) Donnelly, Janet (Richard) Gabree, sister-in-law Lois (Johnson) Yngve.
She is survived by son Robert and wife Pamela of Sutton, daughter Carol of Hyde Park, grandchildren Jennifer Johnson of Newburyport, Kristina Spilman and husband Zachary of Sherborn, Jeffrey Johnson of Philadelphia PA; great grandsons Daniel and Jacob Spilman; her brother Edwin (Janet) Carlstrom of Sun Lakes AZ, sister-in-law Barbara (Hank) Stidsen, her godson Paul Donnelly of Lowell, many other nephews and nieces and many friends at Cape Cod.
June spent her childhood on Carlstrom Farm, attended Millbury Public Schools where she excelled in field hockey and was captain during her senior year. She married the love of her life, Richard W. “Bill” Johnson, and she lived most of her adult life in the Vernon Hill section of Worcester. Over the years she had worked at Wyman Gordon, Saltus Press and then lastly assisting Bill with the neighborhood store Elmer and Bills.
She retired with Bill to a wonderful neighborhood in South Yarmouth, where she lived fully for many years, most of those years with Bill. Together they graciously welcomed family and friends to their home. She was feisty and persistent throughout her life, even in later years.
Family and friends are invited to remember June’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Thursday, April 11th from 5 to 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury.
