June Jones, age 96, of Brookings passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025 at The Neighborhoods at Brookview. A Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the Funeral Service, starting at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Gracepoint Wesleyan Church in Brookings, SD. A luncheon will follow the Funeral Service followed by Interment out to Greenwood Cemetery in Brookings.

June Darleen Moberg was born June 27, 1929 to Leo and Julia (Moe) Moberg in Brookings, SD. She attended Brookings schools graduating in 1947. June worked as a Senior Stenographer from 1947 to 1951 for the Brookings County Social Security Office (renamed Public Welfare Office). On July 18, 1950, she married Myrl E. Jones. Two daughters and a son were born to this union. Her son Richard (Rick) Jones passed away in 1995, husband Myrl in 2004, daughter Kathy Hetrick in 2020, and daughter Laurie Hauser in 2022.

Myrl and June were 1950 Charter Members of Brookings Wesleyan Church, now renamed GracePoint Wesleyan Church. June served in many of its offices and in mission programs. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and served as Sunday School Superintendent. June sang in choir, did special music, and sang for the Living Faith radio broadcast. She worked with children and youth in church, led young teen Commanders for Christ, and was a Cub Scout and Brownie Scout leader. As "Cookie Grandma" with her love for baking, June made and gave dozens of cookies to church youth and many others as a ministry. Hillcrest School named their library, The June Jones Library, in honor of her 26 years as school secretary.

God's love and His Word were her daily love and direction. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to Alaska, Hawaii, Nova Scotia, Canada, Mexico, and all but one state. With her interest in genealogy, she wrote over ten books of family history and memories. June enjoyed using her computer in her love of writing about church history, devotions, letters, etc. Other interests included: working in her flower beds, baking/cooking, spending time with and caring for her family, grandchildren, and friends. These interests were all very important to June.

She is survived by her sister Donna Luke of Rapid City, SD, son-in-law Dennis Hetrick of Brookings, daughter-in-law Jeanne (Denny) VanDyke of Brookings, son-in-law Neal Hauser of Palmyra, PA, her five grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; Darrin Hetrick (April) and their children: Kayla and Abri of Kirksville, MO, Jennifer Hunter (Kory) and their children: Josh, Sarah, Anna, Caleb, and Luke of Gillette, WY, Megan Tirrill (Brandon) and their children: Jacob and Elisabeth (Ellie) of Brookings, SD, Natalie Routhier (Derek) and their children: Emma, Jack, and Will of Raleigh, NC, and David Hauser (Meaghan) and their children: Michael and Ethan of Palmyra, PA. June also loved and prayed for her step grandchildren, and great grandchildren; Brock and Liz VanDyke and their children: Cyrus and Jace, Brooks and Stacey VanDyke and their children: Jack, Mason, Briggs, Vada, and Delani.

June's family would like to extend special thanks to all those that work and volunteer at The Neighborhoods at Brookview and Brookings Health System Hospice for their exceptional care of June during her time of need.

The family asks that memorials be given to GracePoint Missions.
