June McCrory, 81, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Chateau Girardeau.
She was born January 15, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Fred and Anne Beck Ward.
June earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Education from Southeast Missouri State University. She later attained her Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Southern California. June dedicated 54 years to the Thomas W. Kelly School System in Benton, Missouri, beginning her career as a kindergarten teacher and later serving as a school counselor. After retiring from education, she enjoyed working as a hostess at the Cracker Barrel restaurant in Cape Girardeau.
June loved spending time with her friends and family and will be remembered for her dedication to children, education, and community.
Survivors include her three children: Kim (Gisele Patry) Kiefer of Boston, Massachusetts; Bryan (Cindi) Kiefer of Jackson; and Darren McCrory of Knob Noster, Missouri; six grandchildren; and one sister, April Ward of Long Beach, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of June’s life at the home of her son, Bryan Kiefer, located at 459 Wellington Drive, Jackson, Missouri 63755, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2026.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Safe House for Women of Southeast Missouri, 2350 Independence Street, Cape Girardeau, Missouri 63701.
