Akron - June Frances Murphy, 81, died September 21, 2023, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
She graduated in 1960 from St. Mary's High School. She worked in banking, secretarial work, and retired from the City of Akron in the clerk's office.
June was active in sports like tennis, bowling, volleyball and her favorite, golf. She loved reading, arts and crafts and decoupaging boxes with Snoopy motifs.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edgar V. and Kathryn Murphy. She is survived by her brother Thomas and his wife Joanne, and her sister Gail and her husband Bert Hayslip. She leaves four nephews, Shane Murphy (Judy Collins), Mark Murphy (Carrie), Stephen Hayslip (Kristen) and Patrick Hayslip (Ali Silva). She also leaves many great nieces and nephews and many cousins and close friends.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Calling hours will be 1-3pm Friday, September 22, 2023. Interment is at Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Hospital for Children.
