June Helen Parker, a cherished matriarch, and beacon of love and friendship, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025, in Broomall, at the age of 89. Born on May 23, 1935, in Philadelphia to the late Olaf and Florence (Fenton) Olsen, June's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the strength of family bonds.
June was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Walter "Walt" Parker, Jr., and together they built a life rich in love and laughter. She was a devoted mother to Susan L. Parker and her sweetheart, Stephen M. Barth, the late Robyn P. Brown, Heather L. Parker, and Meredith A. Parker. June's legacy continued through her grandchildren, Erica (Brown) McCauley and her husband, Tim, Haley Brown and her fiancé, Joe Gunthro, Annalise Bowen and her fiancé Sean M. L. Moriarity, Lucca Pagliaro, Madisen Bowen, and Benjamin Pagliaro, and great-grandchildren, Dominic and Julia McCauley. She was a caring sister-in-law to Betsy Olsen, a doting aunt to Wesley Olsen, Jr., and his wife, Lydia, and their children, Wes & John, and to her niece, Stacey and her husband, Gene, and their children, E.J. and Sydney. She is predeceased by her only sibling, Wesley Olsen.
June's early years were spent in the halls of Upper Darby High School, where she laid the foundations for a life of service and community involvement. Her commitment to her faith was evident through her longtime membership at Stonehurst Hills Church before joining Covenant United Methodist Church in Springfield, where she was very active in the Women's Group. June also shared her passion for sports and camaraderie as a coach for the Lansdowne Girls Club Softball.
Her home was her haven, and June devoted her life to creating a warm and inviting space for her family. She lived by the credo, "If I could make one person happy a day, I've had a good day," and it was this spirit of generosity that left an indelible mark on everyone she met. She had the unique gift of turning strangers into friends, and her home was often filled with the sounds of new and old acquaintances sharing stories and laughter.
June was a sports fanatic, her enthusiasm for the game as infectious as her smile. She enjoyed old movies, often reciting lines in tandem with the screen, and read the newspaper every day, keeping abreast of current events and the fortunes of her favorite teams. Her interests were as varied as they were passionate, but at the center of it all was her family, for whom she raised a lovely family.
In describing June, one would be remiss not to use the words loving, selfless, and friendly. She was the embodiment of these qualities, touching lives with her energetic and caring nature. June's absence will be profoundly felt by those who knew her, but the memories of her love and the lessons she imparted will continue to guide and inspire.
June's family will hold her memory dear, finding comfort in the love she so freely gave and the example she set. Her laughter, her unconditional support, and her ability to make each person feel special will be treasured by all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, February 1st, 2025 from 10 to 11:00am in Logan-Videon Funeral Home, 20021 Sproul Rd., Broomall, PA, 19008. A Celebration of June's Life will follow in the funeral home with her beloved pastor, Rev. Mark Terry as celebrant.
As the sun sets on a life well-lived, we bid farewell to June Helen Parker, a woman of extraordinary warmth and boundless friendship. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those she touched, a lasting legacy of a life devoted to the happiness of others. June's journey on earth has ended, but her story-etched in the hearts of her family and friends-will never be forgotten.
