June M. (VanderPutten) Propson, age 81, of New Holstein, passed away on March 6th, 2023, after 2 years on hospice.
She was born on June 9th, 1941, daughter of the late Theodore ''Ted'' and Anna (Smits) VanderPutten. June graduated from New Holstein High School with the class of 1960. She married Gordon F. Propson on Feb. 7, 1968, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
June was the youngest of 5 siblings growing and working for much of her life in an authentic 1st generation Dutch bakery in
New Holstein, WI with recipes from Eindhoven, Holland. Her father and then brother, Ralph, ran it for 75 years. The slogan of the bakery was "we knead your dough".
She was also a housewife, taking care of her children and family with delicious dinners at the table every single night. Throughout her life she made pies for the K & R restaurant, worked at the bakery and was also a cook at other restaurants in the area. She thoroughly enjoyed everything about the Dutch heritage, baking, cooking, and collecting recipes. She loved her kids and grandchildren most of all and did everything she could to give them an enjoyable childhood. She succeeded with lots of Finger-Jell-O, cookies and food-care packages to enjoy later.
June always loved being creative with painting and crafts until the very end. She looked forward to holidays, especially Christmas where she often dressed up as Mrs. Claus and gave gifts away. June enjoyed eating out and especially loved frog legs, shrimp alfredo, lobster and rib-eye steak. She had an interest in enjoying life and celebrating special moments. She didn't want to miss out and enjoyed being a part of anything that was happening.
After retiring and taking some trips across the country, her vacations involved week-long trips to Wausau where she made life-long friends. Her life with her family was important and loved. Over her life, she had many dog-children. She enjoyed seeing and spending time with Bosco, Abbie, Portia, Chloe, Ranger and Copper. In the end she really showed her strength and resilience because she mostly wanted to live to see her family and experience more holidays, especially Christmas and two upcoming weddings. She never gave up and always wanted to get better.
Survivors include her children, Ann (Derek) Hanamann (New Holstein); Nancy Puetz (Weston) and fiancé, Mike Molski, Jeff Propson (Neenah); grandchildren Brad Schisel (Kiel), John Schisel (Kiel) and fiancée, Sarah Mueller; and two sisters-in-law, Rose Propson and Katie VanderPutten. She is further survived by nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
June was preceded in death by her husband Gordon on Jan. 25, 2023; parents, Theodore ''Ted'' and Anna; siblings, Gene, Bob, Ralph & Betty and her best friend Alice Mantor; as well as brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; two nephews and a niece.
Funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Ave, New Holstein. June will be cremated per her wishes.
