June Janet (Gust) Reitan, 91, formerly of Casselton, ND, passed away on October 6, 2025 under the care of the Sanford Hospice House, Fargo.
June was born on June 22, 1934 in Durbin, ND, to Elmer and Nellie (Butler) Gust. June grew up in Hunter, ND, and continued her education at Mayville Teachers College and taught school in a 1-room schoolhouse in Ayr, ND.
She married Bud Reitan on October 3, 1954 at Canaan Moravian Church. They made their home in Casselton ND for over 60 years.
She raised her family while working various jobs and volunteering for the community in ways too many to list. In her spare time, she loved sewing, quilting, baking and making hardanger pieces.
June is survived by her children Tim, Mike (Michelle) of Fargo, Penny Rowinski (James Schmidt) of Menoken, daughter-in-law Theresa of Casselton and Danny of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren Alex, Austin, Abby, Nick (Connor), Nathan (Kayla), Elizabeth (Erik) Mars, Christopher (Mitchie), and Sydnee; great-granddaughter Riley Mars; sister Margaret Bankers; in-laws Richard and Karen Faught.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bud, son Barry, parents, brother Charles Gust, sisters Maria Schroeder and Janice Gunderson and Bud's sisters and their husbands.
If you choose to give a Memorial, please send to Martin's Lutheran Church in Casselton for the quilting group.
Visitation: Saturday, October 11, 2025 at West Funeral Chapel, Casselton one hour prior to the service.
Memorial Service: Saturday, October 11, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at the West Funeral Home, Casselton.
Burial: At a later date in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery at Mandan, ND.
