June M. Whalen

June Marie Nichols Whalen was born and raised in LaSalle, Il. by her mother, stepmother, grandparents and five uncles, who treated her like a princess and spoiled her.
She married Jim Whalen in 1951 and together they had six children, Sue (Rick) Woith, Mike Whalen, Steve (Bonnie) Whalen, Maureen (Kevin) Kelly, Rita (Dave) Hermacinski and Ann (Erik) Niehaus; sixteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
She moved to East Peoria at the age of sixteen and went to East Peoria High School. It was there she met a group of young women that she developed friendships with that she carried and cherished throughout her life.
June was a registered nurse and worked in various areas of St. Francis Medical Center. She especially enjoyed anything pertaining to babies!
She was involved in different activities at St. Mark's School with her favorite being the annual Stunt Show.
Our Mom made a lot of friends throughout her life and they all meant so much to her.
She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was the center of this big family and was loved by all.
A private Funeral Mass will be at St. Philomena, with Fr. David Richardson officiating, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.
