Justin Mayhew left us on January 11, 2025, just days after his 53rd birthday. Justin lived a life devoted to his family, who surrounded him as he moved on from this world.
Born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on January 6, 1972, Justin grew up in Nebraska until he moved to Texas at the age of 13, along with his mother, sister, and brother. Texas became his new home and where he would build his life.
Justin met the love of his life, Michelle McCutchen, on July 27, 2001, while living in the Dallas area and they were married exactly one year later. He was quickly embraced by the McCutchens and became a cherished and beloved member of the family. The couple moved to central Texas in 2003 and chose to make Georgetown their home in 2006. Justin and Michelle had two boys, Wyatt and Evan, who became the centers of their world. One of Justin's greatest joys was watching and cheering them on as they pursued their varied interests, from choir to basketball. On many weekends, the family could be found at their ranch in San Saba with the extended McCutchen family, playing games, exploring the backcountry on UTVs, enjoying the outdoors, and enjoying each other's company.
In 2003, Justin met and befriended David Sanchez, with whom he shared not just a job, but a deep mutual respect and affection. Justin, ever the adventurous soul, took a leap of faith and founded BorePro Utility Construction in 2013. David joined him shortly thereafter and they quickly built BorePro from the ground up to become one of the premier companies for directional boring work in central Texas.
Justin always had a profound love of competition, especially on the golf course, where he could often be found playing with some of his closest friends. That drive to compete carried over to even casual family games like cornhole, washers, and horseshoes, where he would take on any challengers who thought they could match him. Many, many hours on many, many nights were spent playing backyard games until everyone had given up and gone to bed - usually after ignoring Michelle's fruitless attempts to get him to do the same.
More than anything, Justin was a tremendous human being. Quick to make friends and slow to make enemies, Justin was always the first in line to help those in need. Every person who spent any amount of time with him will tell you that Justin was, without a doubt, the most generous person they ever met.
In addition to Michelle, Wyatt, and Evan, Justin is survived by his mother, Marlene Carney; his sister, Mara Busby; his brother, Chris Mayhew; his in-laws, Mike and Dianne McCutchen, Christie and Robbie Chance, and Andy and Anna McCutchen; and a host of nephews and nieces from both his and Michelle's families. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Mayhew.
A celebration of Justin's life will be held on Tuesday, January 21 at 2:00 pm at Ramsey Funeral Home located at 5600 Williams Dr., Georgetown, Texas.
