Justin Troester Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Service on Dec. 4, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Justin Christopher Troester passed away on November 26, 2025, in Asheville, North Carolina.
Justin was born on September 2, 1982, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. While his early years were spent near the ocean, he embraced the beauty of the mountains as he grew older, finding peace and adventure in both landscapes.
He loved baseball growing up and played constantly, all the way from T-ball until high school. Justin's warmth and generosity were often expressed through his culinary talents; he loved to cook good food to connect family and friends. He cherished the simple joys in life, especially his passion for nature and being outdoors. Whether he was fishing, collecting shark teeth along the shore or watching the sunrise at the beach, the ocean always called to him. While attending Western Carolina University, he enjoyed hiking and exploring to find waterfalls, especially in Panthertown Valley. Justin loved his family. He delighted in spending time with his nieces and nephews. He loved going on trips to new places and taking fun vacations with family.
He is survived by his wife, Sommer Davis; his loving parents, Bill and Debbie Troester; his sister, Stephanie Terry and her husband Justin; his nieces and nephews, Will Terry, Elizabeth Terry, Mason Davis, Hudson Davis, and Harper Davis. He also leaves behind countless other family members and friends who will miss him deeply and cherish the good times they shared.
Justin was preceded in death by his beloved grandmothers, Vernita Haupt and Rosemary Troester.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Justin's life.
