"Through every trial, she showed us that true strength is not in never falling, but in rising with courage and grace."
Justine Mechele Crosby, daughter of the late Lola Dorsey and Johnny Dorsey, lived a life marked by grace, strength, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. On September 1, 2025, at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, Maryland, she peacefully entered her eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, warmth, and deep family bonds that will never be forgotten.
Justine attended public schools in Accomack County, Virginia, where she built the foundation of her strong and compassionate spirit. She worked faithfully in the seafood industry and was admired for her dedication and work ethic. Known for her strength, humor, and honesty, Justine was never afraid to speak her mind. She had a true gift for conversation, whether catching up with loved ones on the phone or sitting at the table, cards in hand, ready for good laughs.
She found joy in life's simple pleasures - her puzzle books, a cold Pepsi, doing nails, family talks, and spirited card games. Her hands were always busy, whether working, holding her phone, or embracing her grandchildren - Demerius, Lameriah, and Jhameria - who were the light of her life. Her family was the center of her world, and she showed her love through every call or visit.
Justine was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Lola Dorsey; her grandparents, Frank and Flossie Crosby and Henry and Sue Dorsey; and a host of aunts and uncles whose memories she carried with her always: aunts, Bertha Crosby, Margaret Drummond, Linda Holden, Joann Johnson, Thelma Brown, Emma Stevenson, Geraldine Crosby, Elizabeth Crosby, and Joanne Crosby; uncles, Joseph Rice, Robert Crosby, John Dorsey, Preston Dorsey, Edward Dorsey, Yul Brent Dorsey, Willie Downing, Joseph Marshall, Wallace Drummond, William James Crosby, Donald Crosby, James Crosby, Lewis Cros-by, and Woodrow Crosby.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, La'Keisha (Latroy) Dennis; sister, Denise Crosby; father, Johnny Dorsey; brother, Kevin Dryden; grandchildren, Demerius Dennis, Lameriah Dennis, Jhameria Dennis, Destiny Taylor, and Dajour Taylor; great-grandchildren, Dayla, Jahkari, and Caleia; niece, Adyson Banks; nephews, Dione Crosby, Demetrius Crosby, and Ezekial Dryden; aunts, Dorothy Rice, Patricia (Woodrow) Dorsey, Sharon (Richard) Holden, Sandra (Ernest) Chandler, Jr., Ruth (Dalton) Entzminger, Eleanor Marshall, and Betty Harmon; uncles, Graylen Dorsey, Dorsey Crosby, Shelton (Val) Dorsey, and James Johnson; special cousins who were like sisters, Roxanne Johnson, Maxine Stafford-Crosby, and Queenie Rice.
Though her voice may no longer fill the room, and her presence is deeply missed, the love she gave so freely will never fade. Her story - bold, beautiful, and unshakably hers - lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
