K. Shipley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pierschbacher Funeral Homes - Chariton on Feb. 20, 2026.
Kenneth Wayne Shipley passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on February 18, 2026, in Newton, Iowa. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Suncrest Hospice in honor of Wayne.

Kenneth Wayne Shipley was born on August 10, 1939, to Kenneth and Martha (Tweed) Shipley. He attended Gilman High School and graduated with the Class of 1957.

On June 7, 1959, Wayne married the love of his life, Bertha Worrall. Together they were blessed with four children: Kevin, Brian, Blair, and Aimee. Wayne's children felt truly blessed to have grown up in such a happy and loving home, guided by their dad's steady presence and devotion.

Wayne dedicated 32½ years of his career to Maytag, where he worked as a maintenance supervisor. He was also a devoted member of the Moose Lodge and valued the friendships he built there over the years.

In his free time, Wayne loved being on the water joy riding around the lake in the boat, water skiing, and camping. He took great pride in having traveled to all fifty states, an accomplishment he truly cherished. Wayne liked to enjoy a cold "Old Milwaukee" and never passed up the chance to share a beer and good conversation with a friend.

Wayne loved the outdoors fishing, mushroom hunting, and spending time in the timber. There wasn't a problem Wayne couldn't fix, whether mechanical or otherwise. If something was broken, he would figure it out.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Bertha Shipley; his children, Kevin (Darci) Shipley, Brian (Sherry) Shipley, Blair (Carmie) Shipley, and Aimee (Mike) Benner; his sister, Joann Martin; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Martha Shipley; his sister, Deloris Bennett; and his brother, Louie Shipley.
