A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, with Pastor Mindy Ehrke officiating.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.schriversmemorial.com.
Kandace "Kandy" Kay Voigt was born on August 27, 1946, in Aberdeen, SD, to Leonard and Minerva (Dietz) Voigt. She grew up in Lemmon, South Dakota, and Circle, Montana. She survived Polio as a child and the symptoms of Post-Polio Syndrome for the last few decades.
She graduated from Circle High School in 1964 and Northern State College in Aberdeen in 1968. She taught elementary education in Michigan before getting married on February 27, 1971, to Robert George Braun at First Baptist Church in Aberdeen.
Kandy taught music or elementary classes for the rest of her 40-year teaching career, having taught in Circle, MT, Leola, SD, McIntosh, SD, Donnybrook, ND, Selfridge, ND, and Fort Yates, ND.
Kandy was a talented organist and Choir Director for the St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in McIntosh, SD, First Presbyterian Church in McIntosh, SD, and part-time at the Rural Baptist Church in McIntosh, SD.
Kandy had many hobbies, her favorites being sewing, knitting, embroidery, and being the family historian. Her greatest passion and joy in life were her grandchildren.
Kandy is survived by her husband, Robert Braun; son, Eric (Karolyn) Braun; daughter, Connie (Douglas) Eesley; grandchildren: Natasha Braun, Donovan Braun, Julia Eesley, and Megan Eesley; brother, David (Eileen) Voigt; brother-in-law, Donald (Elaine) Braun; and many other friends and relatives.
Kandy was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Minerva, and one brother, Craig Voigt.
