Kandy Sue McDurmon

Kandy Sue McDurmon, 67, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away on April 7, 2023 at Linda E. White Hospice House surrounded by her son, daughter-in-law, sister and cousin. She was born February 17, 1956 in Mt. Vernon, IN.
She had two sons she loved and adored, Michael McDurmon of Mt Vernon, IN and Daniel McDurmon (Amy) of Owensboro, KY. Kandy always brought a smile to your face and greeted you with excited cheer and open arms ready for a hug. She loved animals, especially her grand-pup Remi McDurmon. Kandy also loved to watch the squirrels and birds eating off the feeder outside her bedroom window that her sister set up for her. She loved to take trips to her sons and sister's home to watch movies and have a home cooked meal. Kandy also enjoyed her Monday evening drives to McDonald's with her nephew to sneak in an iced coffee. And the most important thing in the world to her, Kandy had a childlike faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and loved to call her sons and talk about Jesus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wendell and Ruth Cullum; grandparents, Ernie and Gladys Pierce and George and Myrtle Cape; and brother, Gene Pierce.
She is survived by her sons, Michael McDurmon and Daniel McDurmon (Amy); grandchildren, Austin McDurmon (Mallory Stein), Tyler McDurmon, Danielle Robbins (Zachary) and Cayden Kyle Winegar; sister, Donna Leary (Gary Russell); and nephew, Jacob Wood.
The family would like to especially thank cousin, Cheryl Wiggins (aka Therry Ann), for always being there for Momma Kandy and the family when we needed help with emergencies or just visits. Also, thank you to all the nurses, CNA's and caregivers at Brentwood Nursing Home in Evansville, IN who loved her like their own. Thanks to the staff at Deaconess Midtown and Linda E. White Hospice for giving the family love and compassion during Kandy's transition in life.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN with Rev. Westin Leach officiating and burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
