Karen F. Alsedek, 86, of Chambersburg, PA, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Chambers Pointe Health Care Center. Born November 15, 1938, in Ogden, UT, she was the daughter of the late Erich L. and Rona Thompson Fischer. Her beloved husband, Richard D. Alsedek, preceded her in death on March 27, 2015.
Karen attended the former Weber Junior College in Ogden, UT, and graduated from Oregon State University with a bachelor’s degree in education. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Starr Insurance for 23 years. She had also been employed as a secretary for the Private Industry Council and at the Gift Enclosure in Chambersburg. Karen was an active member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fayetteville and the Afternoon Club in Chambersburg. She enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting and school events, playing bridge, tennis and going for walks. In her younger years she taught aerobics at the Chambersburg YMCA. She delighted in keeping a beautiful home and also enjoyed cooking for her family.
She is survived by two children, Steven M. Alsedek of Dallas, TX, and Susan A. Starr (husband Mic) of Chambersburg; two grandchildren, Hannah Cox (husband Tim) of Chambersburg and Isaac Starr of Mechanicsburg; one great grandson, Cooper Cox; and her sister, Kay Cook of Ogden, UT.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, October 30, 2025, in the Northgate Club Room, 1500 Northfield Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Condolences and memories may be shared at geiselfuneralhome.com.
