Betty J. Thompson

Betty J. Thompson, 92, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Thursday morning, November 6, 2025, at her home. Born December 12, 1932, in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Charles Quivers, Sr. and Viola Minnie Brisco Quivers.

Early in her life, Betty was employed as a nurse’s aide at the Chambersburg Hospital. She was later employed at Letterkenny Army Depot as a packer until her retirement. Betty was a member of the John Wesley AME Zion Church in Chambersburg. She delighted in the simple things in life as well as crocheting. She was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker.

Betty is survived by her husband of 70 years, James A. Thompson, Sr., whom she married on June 25, 1955; two children, James Thompson, Jr. (Starry) of NC, and Mark Thompson of Chambersburg; and one brother, John Quivers. Aside from her parents, Betty was preceded in death by two children, David Thompson and Kathy Thompson; and three siblings, Harold Quivers, Charles Quivers, Jr., and Carol Quivers.
