John P. “Pete” Hazlinsky, 85, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, at SpiriTrust Lutheran, The Village at Luther Ridge, in Chambersburg. Born August 29, 1940, in Allentown, PA, he was the son of the late Albert H. and Madeline K. Schuler Hazlinsky.
Pete attended Catasauqua High School before enlisting in the US Air Force, where he served honorably from 1958 - 1962. He later earned an associate’s degree from Catonsville Community College. Pete continued to serve his country for 37 years as a civil servant with the National Security Agency until his retirement in 1999. In his spare time, Pete enjoyed hiking. He also delighted in his pets, owning several dogs and a cat over the years.
He is survived by his sons, Peter M. “Matt” Hazlinsky (Ann Schneider) of Vienna, VA, Adam Hazlinsky of Waynesboro, PA, and Mark Barth (Christina) of Mt. Airy, MD; three grandchildren, Adalynn Hazlinsky, Brian Barth and Jenna Barth; and three siblings, Judith Behum (Joe), Verdiana Quinn (John), and Katherine Shear.
Services and interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA. Condolences and memories may be shared at geiselfuneralhome.com.
