Katherine Dropp, age 83 of Chambersburg, PA, transitioned peacefully with family by her side on November 15, 2025. Born in Monessen, PA on December 13, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Helen Dolnack. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Dr. John “Jerry” Dropp.

Kathy led a full life as a loving daughter, devoted wife, caring mother, supportive grandmother, proud great-grandmother, and vibrant friend.

Kathy graduated from the Robert Morris School of Business. Her career path was shaped by Jerry’s military and academic journey. When Kathy and Jerry ultimately established roots in Chambersburg, she secured a position as an administrative assistant at Shippensburg University where she remained for over 20 years. There she discovered her creative side, awakening the artist within. She immersed herself in diverse artistic and cultural experiences which expanded her appreciation of other viewpoints. In retirement, Kathy spent several summers working at the Totem Pole Playhouse where she was delighted to be involved in a supportive role in the world of performing arts.

Kathy/Mom/Grandma illuminated life with humor, kindness, and uplifting energy. Kathy found immense joy, laughter, and purpose by sharing time with others. Her empathic and compassionate nature left others feeling heard, accepted, and valued. She flourished through her interpersonal connections, both near and far, each one unique and special. She reminded us of the importance of being playful no matter your age. She wore the sparkly shirt, took those flying lessons, inked that tattoo just last year, and splashed in the puddles. She could be one tough cookie if needed. Kathy relished travel adventures, the National Parks, musical concerts, casino trips, and Ravens games. She was an advocate for Women’s rights and equality, encouraging others to use their voice and vote. She was (and will continue to be) an inspiration to many. Carpe Diem.

She is survived by her two daughters, Michelle Smith (husband J. Kevin) of Hagerstown, MD and Debora Farlow (husband Chris) of Bishopville, MD; three grandchildren, Ryan Farlow, Jessica Skinner (husband Alex), and Carey Farlow (wife Hayley); three great-grandchildren, Arya Skinner and Olivia and Roland Farlow; and a brother-in-law, Joseph Michael Dropp of Elko, PA. She also leaves behind a supportive circle of dear friends who rallied by her side when she needed it most.

"There is nothing more precious than laughter–it is strength to laugh and lose oneself, to be light," -Frida Kahlo
