Karen Battes Obituary

Karen was a graduate of Ohio University and was a beloved Spanish teacher at Madison High School. She is a proud cancer survivor and she loved their dachshund, Mae.
She is survived by her son, John "Ed" Battes, stepchildren William "Bill" (Marge) Battes and Connie Wilson. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; stepson, Robert; and her parents.
Friends will be received from 4-7 pm on Monday, October 13th at Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison with a service to follow at 7 pm. A gofundme has been set up to help Ed with hospital and funeral expenses:

Mrs. Battes was one of my favorite teachers. Loved her laugh. I can hear it now. She would call me my Spanish name (Elisa) till this day. She will definitely be missed. Sending my condolences to all who knew her.
