Lance Christopher Collier, age 66 of Geneva-on-the-Lake, passed away unexpectedly Thursday October 2, 2025 at his home with his wife and son at his side. He was born February 21, 1959 in Ashtabula County, the son of Arlan and Donna May (Herpy) Collier. He married Cindy September 24 in 1983. we
Lance was the bassist for Dead East Garden, After The Sun, as well as a band called Savage in the 80s. In his early years he had the opportunity to travel and open shows for bands who are today legends in the doom scene but he chose to build a family with his high school sweet heart, first and only love, who is still his wife to this day 50 years later. They raised two successful children, one of whom God promoted to an angel at sixteen years old. Although he lived a life he loved daily, he looked forward to reuniting with her and undoubtedly she was hand in hand with him when he crossed from Earth to Heaven. And the other being his son who he called daily several times a day that he'd strongly rely on as he is the jack of all trades and the one he'd spend every NFL and NBA game with whether it was together or over the phone before, after, and during each Cleveland game. He was a career Class-A CDL driver and was proud to be Ashtabula County's "Beer Guy" for over 30 years and had recently retired in 2024. He has friends all over the world, from his hometown to across the seas in the United Kingdom and everywhere in between, all of which he met and built friendships of doom metal and rock and roll. The most important thing to Lance next to being a husband and father was being a musician. He was a man of strong artistic talent from playing various instruments, writing his own music, and drawing portraits. These same talents genetically crossed over to his son and grandchildren. Lance spent his life traveling and playing music with his son, band members, or friends, going to music festivals both as a fan or as a bass player on stage all across the eastern region and even sometimes went as far as the West Coast. His favorite festival was "The Maryland Doom Fest". He has played locally all through Bridge Street in Ashtabula Harbor, Geneva On The Lake, and countless places in the Cleveland area. His home away from home was on stage with his foot on a pedal, a guitar in his hands, and a beer at his side. He has an immaculate collection of music from vinyls to CD's and was well known on social media for "This Weeks Playlist" where weekly he'd choose his music for the week and restock his prized possession, his CD case. He was known to some as the "Ohio Doom Metal Legend". He will forever be known for the passion he had for music and his unconditional support of fellow artists all over the world. A true metal head through and through. When he wasn't on stage or in the studio he was photographing sunsets, supporting his son coaching, watching his children on the basketball court, on a mixed martial arts mat, and making an appearance to every sport all year round they participated in. He was a regular at his favorite Ashtabula Harbor establishment, The Cloven Hoof. Even with his jam packed exciting lived on the edge life, he still cherished what was most important in his life; the life he built with his wife and always made sure she knew she was his priority by taking her out to eat weekly, treating her to dates, buying her flowers regularly, and taking nightly walks. He is most known at home for his witty jokes and memorization of comical movie lines. He created one family tradition every holiday season and that was watching Christmas Vacation on Christmas Eve. Along with his collection of music he also had a huge collection of movies. He loved taking the whole family to the movies and just sitting at home and sharing his personal favorites with his kids and grand kids.
As a friend, he was one of the best friends you could have. No matter what, he was always there when his friends needed. Even opening his own home if they needed a place to stay. Lance was a well rounded man that made a lasting impression on every life he encountered and a loving Husband, Papa, Father, Metal Head, who also loved his Cleveland sports and took pride in being a friend but more than anything loving his wife who was Best Friend.
He is survived by his wife, and best friend Cindy Collier; son Kyle (Michelle Gilbert-Collier) Collier; grandson, Jayce Kyle-Nicoles Collier; granddaughter, Kylie Lee Collier; grandson; Caden Joseph Collier, preceded by his daughter Brittany Collier and his parents; Arlan and Donna Collier
His last performance will be from 4-7pm on Sunday October 12th at Behm Family Funeral Home on 175 S. Broadway in Geneva and his final oncore will on Monday, October 13th at 11am where he will be laid to rest next to his daughter at Mtn Pleasant Cemetery at 600 Walnut Street in Geneva Ohio 44041

I am saddened to hear of Lances passing. Being a long time friend of Lances father and mother, Arlan and Donna, I had the opportunity to watch Lance grow up as a young person. I would watch Lance excel on his trials motorcycle. There wasn't a move that he couldn't do with precision. RIP Lance. You will be missed.
