Karen Bonell Obituary
December 28, 1937 ~ September 5, 2024
- Karen Blanche Dymock was born on December 28, 1937, to John Ervin Dymock and Thelma Shields Dymock in Tooele, Utah. The youngest of eleven children, Karen cherished her memories of her family garden and fruit trees, her mother's wonderful baking, and watching her brothers play summer baseball games in the neighboring field. Karen attended Tooele High School where she served as an officer with FHA. After graduating, Karen moved to Salt Lake City to work for First Security Bank. Here she met the love of her life, J Frank "Tad" Bonell. Karen and Tad were married in the Logan Temple on August 10, 1962.
Karen and Tad enjoyed 62 years of a happy and loving marriage. Karen was a wonderful and caring mother to her two sons, Brian Tad Bonell and Brad Frank Bonell. Serving many roles for her family, community and church, Karen was PTA president, Primary Teacher, Den Mother, and a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Karen was known as a wonderful host, always having delicious raisin bars, fruit cocktail, and home-made grape juice as offerings. Her love for sweet treats and fruit gained her the childhood nickname of "Peaches." Her sweet nature and countenance made this a doubly apt name.
Karen enjoyed hosting large family dinners for the holidays, spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild, as well as following her favorite sports teams. (Go Utes!) She was a constant companion to Tad, ensuring his health and wellness as they explored the world together. Karen is survived by her two sons, Brian (Leisl), and Brad (Rachel); along with grandchildren Ellie (Tucker), Coda, Tylar and Sage; and great-grandchild Teagan.
Services will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens at 1950 E. 10600 S. Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be held Friday, September 20, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 2:00 pm. A gathering of friends and family will begin beforehand at 1:00 pm.
