Karen Diane Eagan, 68, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 11:07 am April 9, 2022 at her residence in Mount Vernon. She was born November 18, 1953 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Raymond Gale and Helen (Tennyson) Boone. Karen married Woodrow "Woody" Eagan Jr. in Jefferson County. They were blessed with several years of marriage before he preceded her in death on November 7, 2013.
Karen is survived by her son, Fred Mooney and wife, Melissa of Belle Rive, Illinois; grandchildren, Darien Leber and fiancée, Eryn Colyer and son, Casen, Hailey Mooney, and Karissa Mooney; expecting first great-granddaughter in April; brothers, Mike Boone, Jim Boone, and Les Boone all of Mount Vernon Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Karen was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church. She enjoyed having coffee with her friends and never met a stranger. Karen volunteered at local food pantries. She was a great care taker to her husband. Above all, Karen loved her family and will be greatly missed.
A Visitation will be held Friday, April 15, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Memorial Service will begin at 7:00 pm. Memorials may be made in Karen's honor to the family for funeral expenses.
