Karen M Golaszewski, of Columbus, Ohio passed away in HOSPICE care on September16, 2024 at age 68 after a 40-year battle with MS. She was surrounded by her spouse, family, friends, and caregivers in her last days. Karen was born in Columbus, Ohio, on April 19, 1956, to Patrick Power and Madelyn (Farino) Power.
She is preceded in death by her mother Madelyn (Farino) Power (1998), Father Patrick H Power (2019), and sister Maureen Anne (Gary) Rensch (2019), In-Laws Dorothy (Augustyniak) Golaszewski (2019), Richard R Golaszewski (2005) and brother-in-law William Golaszewski (2019). She is survived by spouse Robert Golaszewski, brothers: Patrick J. (Sue Baumgardner) Power, Anthony G. (Donna) Power, brothers-in-law Paul F. (Laura Russel) Golaszewski, Bill (Sue A ) McFredrick, nieces and nephews: Kim, Chris, Sean, Jessica, Elizabeth, Katie, Kelly, and Billy.
Karen was an incredibly special person that attracted many people because of her super strong positive personality, sense of humor and love of people. She was more interested in how other people were doing rather than in herself. She had a zest for life and loved to travel, especially to Florida and her beloved Put-In-Bay, OH. A volunteer heart was her guiding North Star. She was a big The Ohio State University football fan, regularly dressing up for the big game, especially for that team up north.
Karen had medical issues most of her life, suffering from multiple sclerosis and other ailments (complaining was NOT her style). She was happily married for over 44 years to her spouse and was loved by family and friends. In fact, she celebrated her 44th anniversary prior to her passing at Mount Carmel, East hospital. Karen was blessed with a tremendous smile mentioned by many people that were blessed to be in Karen's company.
A memorial service will be held on Friday 9/27/24 with visitation 1-3PM followed by a service & celebration of life. In a hat tip to Karen, we are asking people to wear their school colors to the event. Ohio state colors would be great, but any school or professional team's colors will be nice. Rather not wear sports colors, no problem. Service will be held at: Pfeifer Woodyard Funeral Home In Reynoldsburg, OH. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. In love we go into the future

Karen was one of our first friends on the tasting panel, so kind and caring about others even with her own health challenges. Karen enthusiastically was part of our many wonderful get togethers; her joyful zest for life was always apparent in her beautiful smile! Her loving friends, Ethel, Maureen & Diane
