Karen Keefer Kendall, beloved daughter of the late Robert and Ruth (nee Conover)
Keefer. Cherished mother of Scott Snell, Chris (Melissa) Snell, Craig (Jenny) Snell, and
Kent (Chuck Kohlman) Snell. Devoted grandmother of Alisson, Michelle, Shilo, Craig,
Carley, Jessica and Jacob and great-grandmother of 10. Loving sister of Carol Walters,
Kathy Nolte, and Claudia Eagler, as well as the aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by former husbands, Richard Snell and Edward Kendall.
Karen Jane Keefer was born in Cincinnati in 1939 and attended St. Gertude Grade
School. She later went on to graduate from Madeira High School.
She was the office manager of Occidental Life (now TransAmerica) and then worked at
Mental Health Services in North College Hill. But wrapping gifts at McAlpin's was the
job she loved to tell stories about.
She was a longtime resident of Finneytown, where she raised her four boys. During the
Ohio winters she would head south to Big Pine Key, Florida or to Little Torch Key,
Florida, where she had a summer home.
Karen was in constant motion. She loved to cook, bake, and garden. But if she was
sitting, she was sewing, crocheting or knitting. She never got caught doing nothing.
She made many afghans for family members and friends. In addition to being a devoted
mother, she was equally as devoted, if not more so, to her grandchildren, not wanting to
miss a concert or sporting event they were in. She will be deeply missed by her family.
Her family will welcome friends on Friday, June 6th from 12Noon until the time of the
Blessing, 1PM at Thomas-Justin Memorial, 7500 Montgomery Rd. (45236) Kenwood.
Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Karen's memory to either the
Alzheimer's Association or the ASPCA.
